Membership of AFCU
Anyone who believes in prayer to God through our Lord Jesus Christ, and who is willing to pray regularly for the spiritual welfare of the Armed Forces, is welcome as a member.
Those serving in regular or reserve sections of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army or Royal Air Force join as Serving Members. All others, including those who have retired from the services, join as Non Serving Members. Serving membership is open to officer cadets and recruits under training, while those serving in foreign armed forces are welcomed as ‘honorary’ members and can sign up under the Non Serving Membership application form.
The Union also welcomes as Non Serving Members those who are not part of HM Forces, but have a concern for the spiritual well-being of Service personnel and their families. Their prayers will be greatly valued and there are opportunities to meet with others in existing prayer groups or to pray individually for serving members and the work of the AFCU.
For those who wish to pray for our Armed Forces but who do not wish to join as full members, we have a category of membership called ‘Upholders’. Upholders commit to praying regularly for our armed forces and they receive a monthly email update to fuel their prayers.
Three Types of Membership:
In addition to prayer, Serving Members receive two copies of the AFCU magazine ‘Contact’ (one to give away!), and, other than an initial hard copy, receive electronic copies of the AFCU newsletter News & Views, which gives news of members, details of AFCU activities, teaching material, and the AFCU Prayer Diary. This literature is designed to encourage prayer for individuals and the Services in general. If you would prefer to receive all the literature in hard copy, we will be pleased to arrange this for you. The AFCU staff endeavour to visit Serving Members whenever possible. If you would like to request a visit or find AFCU members in your area, please get in touch with the Office.
NON SERVING MEMBERSHIP.
As well as being welcome at all our events each Non Serving Member will receive the AFCU magazine ‘Contact’, together with the AFCU newsletter News & Views, which gives news of members, details of AFCU activities, teaching material, and the AFCU Prayer Diary. This literature is designed to encourage prayer for individuals and the Services in general. Members receive the mailings electronically unless they specifically ask for hard copy. We can also help you to find other members in your area and the staff always look forward to meeting with you and providing prayer support as appropriate.
